Rita Powers is originally from a small town in California where she spent most of her time on her family’s cattle ranch. Some of her fondest memories are bottle feeding the calves, one of which she named Buttercup. Rita continues to voice her interest in her family’s ranch, learning about how new technological developments affect the industry. A current example of this, used on her family’s ranch, is the use of drones to monitor field conditions. Being close to the ranching industry has always provided her with curiosity regarding the distribution of natural resources, contributing to her interest in water law. Joining Schroeder Law Offices in August of 2023 has given her a better understanding of water rights and subsequently, the effects of water laws on ranching.
Education
Rita graduated in May of 2023 with a B.A. from the University of Nevada, Reno. Rita is currently a first-year law student at Lewis & Clark Law School.
During her last year at the University Rita interned for the Washoe County Bar Association. In this role she worked within the local legal community and volunteered for projects, such as the Nevada High School Mock Trials. Although Rita began her legal career in Reno, NV, she now finds time to assist the Portland team of Schroeder Law.

For fun, Rita enjoys hiking, reading, and concerts as well as spending time with her family.
